Week of August 17-24 August, 2008 Newsletter August 17, 2008 Worship Guide    Teachers Luncheon A luncheon will be held for the teachers and staff at Altavista Elementary School on Friday, August 22.  If you would like to assist by providing food or with setting and cleaning up, please contact Luann Lee @ 369-5837 or llee8229@embarqmail.com Sr. Adult Meeting The next Senior Adult meeting will be on Monday, September 15.   We will leave at 3:00 p.m. to carpool to the apples/peach orchard near the Peaks of Otter.  Dinner will be at the Train Depot in Bedford at approximately 5:00 p.m. Pictorial Directory The Centennial Commitee is planning a Pictorial/Directory for our Centennial Celebration on April 27, 2009.  Jim Funderburk will be taking the pictures.  Family Pictures will be taken on Sundays in August. There is a sign up sheet in the fellowship hall.  The date is August 17.  The pictures will be taken on these dates from 9:00-10:15 a.m. and 12:15-1:00 p.m.  Other dates will be posted later.   Other individuals and groups will be assigned times and arrangements will be made to take pictures of our shut ins.  DAWN The first Sunday of each month is set aside for collecting donations for DAWN. Items needed are paper products, such as toilet paper, paper towels. Toothpaste, soap, and Jiffy cornmeal mix are also wanted. Boxes will be placed in the vestibules and in the fellowship hall. Centennial First Baptist Church will be celebrating it 100 year anniversary in 2009.  A Centennial Committee has been formed to coordinate our centennial activities.  The Committee is asking for the names and addresses of former members and friends of FBC to contact about participating in our celebration.  The Committee is also asking for photographs and memorabia to help compile an up-to-date history of the church.  You may contact any of the members of the Committee with information you might haveCentennial Committee:  Johelen Martin, chair; Melody Jennings; Billie Kinlaw; Brady Kinlaw; Russelle Pillow; Margaret West Weekly Meetings Youth Bible Study, Mondays @ 7:30 p.m. Prayer Shawl Ministry ---Mondays from 1:00-2:30 p.m. Tuesday Morning Bible Study---Each Tuesday morning @ 10:00 a.m. Chancel Choir---Wednesdays @ 7:30 p.m.
