Deacon Family Ministry Our Diaconate is active in ministering to the needs of the families at First Baptist Church. Each deacon is assigned several families to maintain contact with and minister to in times of need such as an illness, a death in the family, a personal or family crisis or just to be a source of support and encouragement. Deacon Ministry Teams include a Crisis Ministry Team, Benevolence Team, Small Jobs Team, Transportation Team, and Hospital/Homebound Team.
Mustard Seed Projects are an outreach to our community. They include such things as a luncheon for the Sr. Class at Altavista High School; seeding the lawn at Autumn Care; landscaping at the Altavista Combined Schools, luncheons for teachers at Altavista Elementary School and the Altavista Combined Schools; preparing cookies for the Altavista Police Force, the Fire Station, and Rescue Squad personnel; and filling the bird feeders at Autumn Care.
Wellness Ministry First Baptist Church is fortunate to have on our staff, Alice Bond, who serves as our parish nurse. Alice is available to counsel with individuals and groups regarding their physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing.
