Alice Bond

Parish Nurse

​

Alice Bond has served FBC as Parish Nurse for 12 years.  She is a native of Virginia, and moved to Altavista in 1961 with her husband. They became part of the FBC family and were later joined by their son, Kenneth, and foster children, Dale and Tina Dempsey.  Alice earned a nursing diploma from the Virginia Baptist Hospital School of Nursing and a Bachelor of Science with double majors in Health Sciences and Religious Studies at Lynchburg College. While at LC she studied the life and theology of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, which remains a significant interest. Alice loves to read, especially mysteries. She has traveled extensively, both home and abroad.

Donna Ruff

Administrative Assistant

​

Donna has been the Administrative Assistant at First Baptist Church since 1996.  She is married to Marty Ruff and they have 5 adult children and 9 grandchildren and two very spoiled Yorkies. Donna graduated from Westhampton College (University of Richmond) with a Bachelor of Science in Sociology.  She enjoys spending time with her family, reading and the beach.

    Rev. Alden Gallimore
                            Pastor

Rev. Gallimore began his ministry at First Baptist Church of Altavista in March 2023. He graduated from Wake Forest University with a Master's of Divinity in May 2022. Alden is also a chaplain in the United States Navy Reserve and completed his training with the Chaplain Corps in Newport, RI during the summer of 2025. Originally from the small town of Powder Springs, Georgia, he earned a B.A. in Music with a focus in classical guitar from Berry College in 2015. Music was his first calling into ministry as he served at various churches over the years as a worship leader.

Sierra Mitchell

Minister of Music

​

Sierra joined us as Minister of Music in the summer of 2025. Born and raised in Halifax County, VA, she went on to study and graduate from Liberty University with a Bachelors in Instrumental Music with a concentration in Classical Percussion. For the past 11 years, Sierra has served as an instrumentalist in various capacities within many different churches in Virginia and Southern Texas. Sierra is currently pursuing a career as an elementary school music teacher in South Boston, Virginia.
